Joking aside, as you can tell, this site is dedicated to covering shooters – arguably the most popular and exciting games in the business today. Hell, they’re pretty well all I play. Some people may think that there is an over-abundance of shooters these days… seems like every time you turn around, another “generic shooter” comes out. But frankly, the surplus of shooting games available makes me happier than a pig in shit.

In my opinion, games from other genres are just meant to serve as an occasional break from Call of Duty. I’ll play the odd racing or fighting game here and there, maybe play a casual game or two with my lady or some “non-gaming folk” every now and again… but 95% of my gaming time goes towards first and third person shooters. And why the hell not? They’re awesome. The sales figures will back that claim up – shooters sell faster than sandals in summer.

I guess my obsession with shooters began thanks to GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64. It’s one of the greatest games of all time, and really opened my eyes to a genre that I would play steady ever since. The graphics, sound effects, purposeful mission objectives and well-crafted levels resulted in my becoming more immersed in a videogame than any other previous title. And frankly, it was satisfying as hell to take out all of those Russian soldiers with my PP7 or to blow their sorry asses up with remote mines. Throw in cheats to unlock and multiplayer death matches… there was no turning back.

After spending some time with GoldenEye, I practically changed into a shooter fanatic overnight… where previously I was, for the most part, only interested in fighting games and platformers. I hardly ever touched shooters, with the exception of the occasional bout of Doom on the PC.

Fast forward to the present day, and shooters have come a long way since GoldenEye. The graphics are mind boggling and more realistic than ever, while the intensity has been cranked to eleven. These days, my new obsessions staples would be the Call of Duty and Gears of War series. I can’t get enough of them.

So to wrap this up and explain the site’s purpose in a nut shell: When I go to a gaming site, I skim the headlines until I find something to do with shooters. Very rarely am I interested in anything else. So this site is meant to be a source for fans of first and third person shooting games where all of the crap other genres get filtered out. I hope to make this site your one-stop for everything and anything to do with shooters: Be it news, reviews, or just random crap to do with shooting games. Pretty simple.
