Damnation Takes us Vertical with Steampunk Flair

By Mike Neil — Filed in Multi-platform — Viewed 484 times

This upcoming shooter, currently scheduled for a release in May, aims to make a splash in a crowded genre by mixing its steampunk and western influences with vertical gameplay elements (which is all the rage these days, it seems).

damnation

Built from the omnipresent Unreal Engine, Damnation offers an alternate spin on American history, as it’s set during the early Twentieth Century where steam is utilized as the main source of energy and The Civil War has been fought for decades.

You’ll assume the role of Hamilton Rourke, the leader of a group of freedom fighters aiming to bring down an industrialist who commands an army with superior weapons and technology at their disposal.

Aside from the steampunk influence and alternate history presented, Damnation distinguishes itself by offering massive, open environments while placing a heavy emphasis on platforming and acrobatics.

Assuming that developer Blue Omega Entertainment is able to successfully entwine the shooting, platforming and vertical aspects, Damnation could be an appealing title for fans of games such as Uncharted or Tomb Raider when it arrives for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC next month.
