So it looks like the Wii wanted to get in on the Modern Warfare action and here we have a port of CoD4 in Reflex Edition. The Call of Duty series has been very popular on other platforms so it makes sense to bring Modern Warfare to the Wii. For the most part, this is just a replica of the Xbox 360 and PS3 edition, except for a few twists.
There is multiplayer in this version, and it plays the same as the other editions. If you’ve played MP on the 360 or PS3 then you’ll know the layouts of the maps from the beginning.
I played Modern Warfare on the 360 and enjoyed the MP. The only problem I have with the Wii MP is the fact that you can’t talk to your teammates. So as I stated before, if you’ve played MP on one of the other systems then there’s not much to report for the Wii.
Moving on to the controls, you use the Nunchuk for basic movements (forward, back, left, and right) and the Wii Remote to look in various directions. I did not like this aspect of the game. In the heat of battle this could be somewhat crippling. If you tilt the Wii remote in the wrong direction, even in the slightest motion, you could be staring at the sky or ground while someone pumps you full of bullets. I tried using the Perfect Shot because I heard it was easier, but it’s not. The main reason it’s more difficult to use a gun accessory is because when you want to knife someone, you have to push the gun forward. Doing so may cause your aim to be off and make you miss your target. (more…)
Activision Publishing has confirmed that Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 will be released in North America on September 29 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
“We are elevating the first person action hunting genre because it’s what fans demand. Skill, extreme danger, real world equipment – you get all of that in Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010, and it all takes place in stunningly rendered outdoor environments packed with animals that look and act like the real thing.”
-David Oxford, Activision Publishing
Adding to the realism is the Top Shot hunting peripheral, which can be purchased with the Wii version of the game. Wii owners will also enjoy 13 arcade shooting galleries, including 4-person multiplayer.

Sega and High Voltage recently stated that The Conduit, their upcoming sci-fi first person shooter for the Wii, has gone gold. It will ship to North America on June 23.
Taking place in the near future, The Conduit features an intense campaign riddled with conspiracies that will have you battling against a mysterious alien race that has invaded Washington, DC.
Once you’ve finished defending the city from its alien “guests,” the frenzy can be continued online courtesy of the 13 multiplayer modes that accommodate up to 12 players.
Hopefully The Conduit lives up to the hype and delivers a solid time for Wii owners who have been anxiously awaiting its arrival.
This commercial should bring back a few fond memories of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64, one of the best games the console had to offer:
I remember seeing this for the first time, beaming with excitement. And not because it features the girl playing Joanna Dark in the shower (though that may have helped a little…) but because I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of this “spiritual sequel” to GoldenEye 007.
Perfect Dark was undeniably a superb game that expanded on the foundation set forth by GoldenEye. So you can imagine my enthusiasm when this commercial arrived: (more…)

C.O.R.E. is an upcoming first person shooter for the Nintendo DS currently scheduled for a release date of May 19. Similar to the F.E.A.R. games, the title is a pain in the ass to type out because of the periods that come after every letter.
Taking place in the year 2048, you’ll assume the role of US Marine Jason Crane and you’ve been sent to investigate an underground research complex known as (yes, you guessed it) C.O.R.E. after communications were lost with the facility. Experiments were conducted here for years to study the effects that a meteor crash had on the surrounding area and those who have been within its vicinity. As you would expect with an underground research facility in a video game, things have gone all to hell and the complex has been overwhelmed by a plethora of strange creatures. It’s your job to figure out what’s going on and to shoot up the eerie beings you’ll encounter as you explore the vast laboratory. (more…)

It looks as though a follow-up game to the Wii’s on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is in the works:
The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed the upcoming Wii title Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. The game is being handled by Umbrella Chronicles developer Cavia, and looks to be a sequel to 2007’s on-rails shooter. The game will take place in Resident Evil 2’s Racoon City setting, and and will have players controlling Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy.
Resident Evil 2 was actually my favorite installment in Capcom’s famed series, so I think The Darkside Chronicles might be fairly interesting, even though I’m generally not a fan of on-rail shooters.
Dtoid also reported that Capcom is supposedly set to make an official North American announcement regarding the game this Thursday evening. Although, I think it’s safe to assume that most RE fans will be preoccupied with Friday’s release of Resident Evil 5… at least for the time being.

High Voltage Software aims to make a splash on the Nintendo Wii with their upcoming sci-fi shooter, The Conduit. It’s set for a release this spring, and it looks like FPS fanatics might have a solid reason for dusting off that Wii-mote of theirs. The visuals look insane, and it’s hard to believe that what we’re seeing is footage from a Wii game.
