Specializing in online warfare since 1942 (apparently), DICE is hard at work on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the sequel to last year’s destructive first person shooter.
Very little details have been revealed about this game so far, and the recently released trailer certainly doesn’t shed much light on gameplay elements. Or much of anything, really.
However, a couple teaser images have been released that may pique your interest while we patiently wait for more details: (more…)
Modern Warfare 2 dropping the “Call of Duty” namesake from its title wasn’t the only major piece of news from last week concerning this popular FPS series. As most people are aware, it was also announced that the original Call of Duty is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network.
Having never played the original Call of Duty, which was released for the PC back in 2003, I’m curious how it will stack up compared to the more recent CoD games. Have a look at it in action:
Considering that this video is fairly low quality, the game actually doesn’t look too bad at all and in my opinion, hold ups quite well from a visual standpoint. It seems a bit dated compared to something like World at War, but I think it looks great considering that it came out six years ago.
A release date has not been confirmed yet, but you can bet this one’s going to fly off the virtual shelves when it becomes available.
I’m not sure if the individual who created this game is demented, or a genius. Perhaps both…
Anyway, this is a very fun FPS flash game that I like to play every now and again where your objective is to shoot as many chickens as you can within one minute.
It’s easy enough: Aim the crosshair with your mouse, click it to fire, and press the “R” or “Down” keys to reload. You get ten points for a headshot, five points for causing the chickens to messily explode, and one point for nicking the tail. It’s insanely amusing and proves that flashy graphics & realism aren’t always required to have a good time – as long as you can make something bleed.
I was playing around with this yesterday afternoon and managed to kill thirty-nine chickens in one game. It’s all about timing your reloads properly. Give it a shot, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

This didn’t come as a major surprise to me, but it’s good news for the Halo community nonetheless. It’s been confirmed that Bungie plans to continue supporting Halo 3 even after the release of ODST, with new maps and the like. And everyone enjoys new maps and the like: (more…)

Dark Sector, a third person shooter by Digital Extremes, became available for the PC and Steam this week.
This game was released last year for the Xbox 360 & Playstation 3 and although it was a pretty solid title in my opinion, it was overlooked by many. It received a few less than stellar reviews, but I think that anyone who enjoys the Gears of War games would probably have a decent time with Dark Sector.
You play as special agent Hayden Tenno, and to make a long story short, (more…)
Gears of War 2 and CoD: World at War were by far my two favorite shooters of 2008. In my NBS Platinum Awards post, I gave the nod to Gears of War 2 as the best third person shooter of the year, and by the same token, Call of Duty: World at War received similar honors as the most enjoyable FPS of last year.
So between these two great shooters, which one should be considered the best game? (more…)

In case Left 4 Dead is more up your alley and you’re not overly interested in Halo 3’s upcoming Mythic Map Pack, or the Snowblind Map Pack that’s on the way for Gears of War 2, you’ll be happy to know that the “Survival Pack” will be available next month: (more…)
