Both are excellent games. Both can be considered “console defining” titles. Both have made Microsoft and associated development companies buckets of money.
But which of these Xbox 360 exclusive shooters designed to move consoles is the superior title? This answer will vary, depending on who you ask, so I decided to compare these games based on select criteria to determine which 360 heavyweight delivers the knockout blow. (more…)

The long-awaited “killer app.” for the Playstation 3 is finally out. It dropped on February 25 in the EU and AUS, and will hit shelves today (Feb. 27) in North America and the UK.
The game has received favorable reviews thus far, and it appears as though picking this game is up is a no-brainer for shooter fans that own a PS3. It’s not like there are many other options on that console anyway.
For those who have not tried the game yet and are itching to give it a shot without spending any coin, the demo became available for everyone’s enjoyment yesterday (Feb. 26).
So it seems as though after all the hype (and controversy), Killzone 2 has delivered where it counts: FPS fans are enjoying the game, praising it for its realistic graphics and addictive gameplay.
While the game doesn’t look quite as good as this… (more…)
Today marks quite possibly the last promotion for COD4 as the folks at Infinity Ward have again flipped the switch for another double XP weekend on both XBOX LIVE and the Playstation Network. Players should now be able to gain double experience for all gametypes up until Sunday night. (more…)

Do you remember the incredible replica Portal gun that was circulating across game sites last month? Well, the talented individual behind that masterpiece is at it again, and this time he’s crafted a replica of the ADAM Syringe used by those creepy Little Sisters from BioShock.
There is a tutorial available on Volpin Props for those crafty types out that that might want to give building this a shot, assuming you can get your hands on the required materials.
Me, I’ll just admire the pictures. I’d probably end up stabbing myself by accident if I were to attempt putting one together.
Incredible craftsmanship, no? And BioShock fans, please, wipe that drool from your chin, it’s not very flattering.
It seems as though the crew at Treyarch had a surprise in store for everyone: A new Call of Duty: World at War update is available for download for the Xbox 360 and PS3 as of today.
Included in the update is one new map, among other things, which were not really elaborated on. Here are the details from CoD Headquarters: (more…)
Everyone’s favorite fast talking, smart-mouthed reviewer is back, and this time he’s picking on F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
I still haven’t tried this game. I was initially very excited about it when it was announced, but slowly lost interest over time. It’s hard to motivate myself to want to try it after watching this video, however. I’ll probably still give it a shot, because I’m one of those folks that absolutely needs to play every single shooter that comes out. But just like the first couple F.E.A.R. games, I expect to lose interest in it about half-way through.
This one’s an easy question, no? Generally, most fans of this series would say that, at least at this juncture, CoD4 is the clear-cut winner. It would get my vote as well, with World at War following closely behind.
In third place would be Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 2, the smash Xbox 360 launch title that made proud owners of Microsoft’s new console forget all about Joanna… what’s her name again? CoD2 was a favorite for a while, but I would have to rank it in the third spot (now) for a couple of reasons.
The first and most obvious is that it seems somewhat behind the more current versions visually, though that’s to be expected at this point. Also, you’ll really miss being able to sprint. It’s a classic title and good for a couple trips down CoD memory lane, but if I had to pick between playing this one or World at War – I would say that Treyarch’s newer version seems a bit more fun by today’s standard.
And of course that leaves us with CoD3 in fourth and last place. I hate to come across like I’m picking on this game, and although it’s generally regarded by most gamers as the worst entry in the series, I still think it delivered a somewhat decent experience. To its credit, it offered pleasing visuals and a couple interesting levels. No, it’s not as polished as the other three, and it’s safe to say that I have officially retired the game in favor of CoD4 and CoD5 World at War, but I don’t think it’s quite the piece of trash that it has been painted as on game forums across the net.
Out of interest, I decided to take a peak at Metacritic to see how all of the current-gen Call of Duty games stacked up against each other according to mainstream media sources. I should note that I checked the scores for the Xbox 360 versions (though I think the ratings are the same for applicable titles on the PS3): (more…)

There are some game franchises that people seem to never tire of. It’s safe to say that Quake can be considered one of those series. Shooter fans have anxiously been awaiting the release of Quake 3 Arena for Xbox Live Arcade, and it seems as though the wait is drawing to a close. According to Chris Grant at Joystiq, the title is “very close” to being finished.
This guy talks for too long before getting to the gameplay footage… I skipped ahead since he wasn’t even speaking English and I didn’t feel like reading subtitles. Sorry, Capcom. Though the part where he took off his Resident Evil jacket sort of reminded me of Mr. Rogers…
The trailer shows off the new co-op aspects, and the visuals appear to be a step above the last version, which I never tried. Well, I played it in a store once for a few minutes, but I don’t think that really counts…
